This charity takes donations of children’s books via their registered locations (mainly schools) across the UK to pass on to young readers. OPL will only accept material that can be resold. Of the remaining items, most are donated to local charities and a small percentage are sold online through an independent agent, from whom the Friends receive a percentage of the final sale price.The Friends of the Oakville Public Library (also known as FOL) raises funds for the library, with a large majority of those funds coming from book sales run by volunteers. The vast majority is sold in the Friends Book Sale. The materials you donate primarily help the Friends of the Library raise money for. Get cash in three simple steps: Pick the books you don’t want or need. You’ll have a quote, offer and payment in a few days, so recycle your used books and give your bank balance a lift in the process. Please do not drop large amounts of items at the circulation desk, and do not place any in the book drops. Books and DVDs in good condition may be brought to any Library location. Sit back and relax, once we’ve received your books and checked them, we’ll pay you the next day. If you need a tax receipt, please stop by between 9 AM and 4 PM on a regular weekday and ring the bell. Your donation may also go to a school, county library, prison library, or nursing. All donations may be dropped off at the loading dock at the rear of the Brookline Village Library (off School Street) at any time. Once in hand, your used books head to nearby charities, like the Humane Society, Hope Services, and Rescue Mission. 
Small donations (one grocery bag or less) may be dropped off at the Brookline Village Library circulation desk during regular Library hours.
